Fall Into Fall: Transitioning Your Summer to Fall Wardrobe

Summer is coming to an end and with that, you dread the moment you have to stuff your tank tops and denim shorts to the back of your closet, only to see them again when spring rolls around. But wait!!! You don't have to! Hold off on putting away your favorite summer pieces and get a month or two more use out of them! Sure, the temp may drop from 85 to 65, what seems like over night, but it is only an excuse to transition your go-to summer outfits into fashion-forward fall outfits! Today I have for you 5 different outfits that include at least 1 summer piece, that I use to transform into a fall appropriate outfit! Use your imagination when it comes to converting your summer to fall wardrobe! The possibilities are endless!

Summer to Sweater
Summer piece: Denim Shorts

Forget about putting away your beloved distressed, denim shorts, just pair them with a sheer tight and ...BAM! it's already fall ready. With fall being cooler, it's that time of year to bring your sweaters to the surface. I chose a quilted black, white, and gray sweater and accessorized with a black beanie and silver statement necklace. To finish off this edgy, yet comfy outfit, I threw on my new pair of high heel ankle boots from Kohl's. I am in love with these shoes and they will most likely make a few more (ok a lot more) appearances on my blog!

Cover Up, but Show Up
Summer Piece: Summer Dress

Dresses are always an easy go-to outfit during the summer. All you have to do is throw it on and accessorize. To still get away with wearing some of your favorite little dresses, throw on a long jacket. Doing this takes your look from summer to fall instantly. Go for a jacket that almost covers the length of the dress, but still shows it off. I chose to go with my long, denim jacket that hits just above the dress. To tie in the brown accents in my jacket I went with my brown wedges.

Don't Crop the Crop Top
Summer piece: Crop Top

Crop tops are a staple in a girl's summer wardrobe. They are fun to pair with high-waisted jean shorts and skirts. When it comes to transitioning some of your crop tops, it's as easy as layering a long sleeve shirt underneath. Layering is a must in the fall season. Although this may not work for all of your crop tops, it may work for certain ones, such as this button up one. The boho hat I'm wearing gives the look a finishing fall vibe.

"Tank" You,  Fall
Summer piece: Tank Top

Tank tops are the epitome of summer! By the time summer rolls around, you are dying to bring out all of your tanks! With this look, I took one of my tank tops that resembles a turtleneck and chose to pair it with a bib dress. Having a high neck line screams fall! To cover up, I threw on a light cardigan and it completed the look. And of course, I went with my new boots! Most tank tops can be used as the focal piece of your fall outfit, but it's how you style around it that makes it a fall look.

"Bib", Please!
Summer piece: Bib Shorts

Bib shorts are a great way to change up your shorts wardrobe. They are fun to style. To transition these bib shorts, throw on a pair of tights, just like with your denim shorts. I chose to go with a loose, silky t-shirt, but you can always go for a long-sleeve top as well.

I hope you are inspired to keep your summer staples near the front of your closet, for just a little while longer! Get as much use out of them as possible!

Happy Fall!
